Talking to someone on the autism spectrum can be like talking to a genius for whom English is a second language. The way Gabriel turns a phrase usually is the correct way; and when it's not, it should be.

Autism might be a magnification of tendencies we all share. We're labeled autistic when we do not limit certain behaviors that all people have. We're mainstreamed when we learn to limit the behaviors.

Thankfully, autism hasn't prevented Gabe from understanding tone of voice and body language. As a talk got serious with Grandma Connie this weekend, Gabe decided, “We have to go see Santa now.” Over and over.
He'll be a fine peacekeeper when he learns subtlety.
