today i saw a rainbow on my path to work. it was less than a quarter circle, but so thick i could clearly discern all seven hues across its width. the moment i noticed the colors, there was a fine mist, just enough to have me flick my wipers once.
from my vantage on california highway 101, the arc touched down on my workplace.
while the special treat wasnt visible when i arrived at the office, a rainbow is just the sort of thing that would draw people there to the balcony with me. visto that sort of place, employing that sort of people.
at my previous place of employ, i had a front row seat on the fifty yard line. rainbows were invariably no-holds-barred full 180-degree archways, revealing leprichaun treasure hoards: one inside hitachi and the other beneath the diamond multimedia parking lot.
however, my coworkers never came outside to view rainbows with me, although i could occasionally turn the heads of smokers already outside blackening their lungs. in over three years, i dont recall anyone joining me when i called backroom people to the foyer for the ROY G. BIV water and light shows. the receptionist and i alone enjoyed the perfect, seven-color beauties which graced that vantage point.
although i like to say its the difference between a software and hardware company, i dont know if thats entirely the explanation.
but i do know i got the pot o gold.
