The Phoenix has two avatars, one each for separate Aspects of Rebirth and Fire. It is important
to note that unike most deities with multiple avatars, the Phoenix often incarnates both the
Blacksword avatar and Threnody
avatar simultaneously, without apparent resentment or repercussions from other deities.
It is believed that while the Deathgod is respected for his place at the end of the
Mortal Coil, the Phoenix is held in highest regard because
even powerful deities need to be reborn on occasion.

Although rebirth is granted to all manner of folk, the Phoenix has favored those persons who
share his birth race of Dark Childe.
With the exhile of the Lios deity Corelian Larethian, the Phoenix took a number of the elves of
light under his wing. Those converted were in general not welcomed amongst other elfar or
even the Lios who remained loyal to Larethian. Such homeless elves of light became traders
on the ocean, and were known as Phoenicians.
